Treat your skin the organic way, these natural face masks perfect for a girly night in <3
Herbal Honey MaskBest for OILY or ACNE prone skin.
Ingredients
Leaves from 2 small bunches fresh organic parsley (cleaned and chopped extremely fine)
2 tablespoons organic honey3 drops organic lavender essential oil (may be a scent of your choice)
1/2 teaspoon 5000 IU Vitamin E oil
1/4 cup organic yogurt
Instructions:
mash all ingredients together and apply to clean skin for 20-25 mins. Wash with warm water to remove.
Why it works: Honey is a natural anti-bacterial. It kills bacteria deep in the pores. When honey is exposed to the air it reacts and produces hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide kills the bacteria that causes spots or breakouts on the skin. This is a great treatment for people with very sensitive oily or acne prone skin as it will kill the bacteria without drying out the skin like conventional anti-acne products. Parsley is a great detoxifier for the skin as it draws out impurities.
Tropical Honey Mask
Best for ANTI-AGING
Ingredients
1/2 of ripe papaya
1/2 cup of fresh pineapple
2 teaspoons of honey
2 teaspoons of green tea.
Instructions:
Put green tea in boiling water and let it rest a bit. Peel the papaya and remove the seeds. Mix papaya and peeled pineapple in a blender or food processor until the mass is consistent. Pour everything in a bowl and add honey and green tea. Apply the mask on clean face (you could use a facial steam to remove impurities). Apply the mask on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse the face with warm water and pat dry. This mask can be used within a week, simply keep it in a glass jar, tightly closed and refrigerated.
Why it works? Dull, dry, old skin cells stick to the surface of the skin causing it to look aged. Papaya and pineapple contain enzymes that break down the 'glue' holding these old skin cells on the surface. When we remove these cells the skin looks brighter, fresher and younger. Also, the skin can look older than it is when it is dried out. The honey acts as a moisturiser in this mask. The green tea is a strong antioxidant which helps rid the skin of toxins.
Soothing Healing Honey Mask
Best for SENSITIVE skin or wound healing.
Ingredients:
1 large ripe organic avocado, peeled and sliced
1 1/2 tablespoons organic honey
Why it works? Honey has been used for centuries to treat burns and wounds so it is a great mask for taking down sensitivity in the skin. Honey is often used to treat small cuts and abrasions because it inhibits the growth of bacteria and reduces swelling. The cooling and moisturising effect from the avocado will make sensitive skin feel and look great too. The anti-inflammatory effect of honey helps to reduce the appearance of broken veins or redness in the skin.
Hydrating Honey & Coconut Mask
Best for DRY skin.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 ½ tablespoons honey
Why it works? Honey is a humectants. This means that it draws water to the skin preventing it from drying out. Honey hydrates the surface layers of the skin by drawing water up from the bottom layers of the skin. This gives the skin a plump youthful appearance. Coconut is another great ingredient for hydrating the skin. This mask is great for extremely dry, chapped or parched skin.
Relaxing Honey Mask
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of honey
2 tablespoon of sour cream
Oatmeal
2 drops of favourite essential oil
Instructions:
Combine honey and sour cream. Add oatmeal until it thickens. Add 2 drops of essential oil.
This mask will suit almost all skin types. The consistency and your favourite essential oils will add a touch of luxury to the treatment. Honey is a wonderful antioxidant which neutralises toxins in the skin but it also provides key nutrients to your skin cells to help you create new, healthy looking skin. A honey mask such as this one is also very good for treating sunburned skin. Antioxidants help repair the skin damage caused by the sun that is why it is becoming increasingly popular to see honey as an ingredient in after sun products.
Tip: if your skin isn't sensitive and is prone to dullness you can add a sprinkling of cinnamon powder to the mask which will get your circulation going and create a nice rosy glow. Just be sure to wash the mixture off completely.
